Building a lasting green space in the heart of Claygate
Come and visit Claygate Recreation Ground to enjoy our wonderful green space and woodlands. Nestled in the centre of Claygate Village, the ‘Rec’ as it is affectionately known, is at the hub of community life offering a vital open space and a place of nature where friends and families can meet, socialise and play. It is open every day throughout the year from 7am until dusk.

PLAY: Home to our Claygate Cricket and Football clubs, Claygate Recreation Ground offers a range of sporting and leisure activities including fitness bootcamps and keep-fit sessions, after school activities, a multi-use games area, children’s play area and plenty of space for dog walking, general exercise or to enjoy a picnic.
RELAX: Soak up the fresh air and enjoy the great outdoors with friends or take in a game of cricket. Stay for lunch, a cup of tea and cake at our new Claygate Pavilion which always offers a warm welcome.
Our Facilities
Claygate Pavilion and Café
Pistachios in the Park looks forward to welcoming you with a wide selection of hot and cold food, drinks, ice creams and snacks. You will find exactly what you need to warm up after a winter dog walk or to sit back and relax with friends on a balmy summer evening.
The fully accessible pavilion offers home and away changing rooms with hot showers and toilets. The perfect base for clubs and sports on the Rec.
Treetops Room
Looking for a room to hold a children’s party, dance class, business meeting or event? Our 68m2 purpose built room accommodates up to 65 people and looks out across the Rec.
Playground
Purpose built play equipment for children, a perfect place for families to spend time. Only a stones throw from our family-friendly pavilion and café.
Cricket
The Rec has been home to Claygate Cricket Club since 1935 and our local team can be seen playing here throughout the summer.
Football
The Claygate Royals train and host matches on Claygate Rec throughout the season
MUGA
Our Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) is perfect for five-a-side football, basketball and other games.
